After sending some years making his name known Caesar was elected to the position of military tribune in 72 BCE.Ĭaesar’s Aunt Julia and wife Cornelia would soon pass away around 69 BCE. After moving back to Rome Caesar had goals of starting a career as a lawyer and being an influential member in Roman society. Caesar was successful in doing this and upon the death of Sulla in 78 BCE. He needed to convince Nicomedes to allow him to obtain a fleet of ships for the Roman Navy. ![]() Caesar was ordered then by his general to be an embassy to Nicomedes, the King of Bithynia. The civic crown is awarded to any solider for saving the life a Roman citizen during battle. Caesar was then elected to be on the staff of a military legate, after receiving the civic crown in 79 BCE. Caesar immediately went into hiding, until later when his influential friends would be able to give him pardon and allow his marriage to exist. Caesar refused to divorce his wife and Sulla proscribed him, meaning that he was on the list to be executed. This was all occurring after 85 BCE when Sulla was in power and decided to order Caesar to divorce Cornelia. ![]() After being married to Caesar, Cornelia gave birth to Caesar’s only legitimate child who was then named Julia. Cornelia was the daughter of a prominent member in the Popular faction, this shows early signs of Caesar’s wants for more by using marriage to elevate his standing in society. When Caesar reached the age of 18 he married his wife Cornelia. At the young age of 16 Caesar’s father passed away, causing him to become very close with his mother Aurelia. Caesar’s family was still far from rich even though they were considered to be Roman aristocrats. Caesar’s Aunt Julia was wife to Gaius Marius, who at the time of Caesar’s birth was the leader of the Popular faction of Roman Politics. He is a selfish, pompous ass, who cares for naught other than his own personal enjoyment.Gaius Julius Caesar was born in Rome, Italy in the year 100 BCE to the patrician family of Gaius Julius Caesar and his wife Aurelia. His devious actions regarding his personal life will no doubt be reflected in his professional life. Does the way he treats one of his only living relatives not reflect his actions in the Senate? Does that not set the precedent for his future actions? Does that not mean he will continue to manipulate those closest to him for his own personal benefit?ĭespite his military achievements and his grand ideas for Rome, I believe that Julius Caesar no hero. Caesar cared not for her feelings or opinion on the matter, he simply married her off as a way of gaining a political ally, as a way of guaranteeing a solid political-military alliance for his run for office. ![]() Speaking of daughters, he married off our only daughter, Julia, to Pompey, a man 23 years older than her. ![]() How can a man who can barely decide which bed to fall into each night make decisions for an entire Republic? Will there not always be doubts that his decisions are influenced by lesser factors, like which verdicts will win him favor with his current mistress? Rome needs a leader than can think clearly someone who can think with the good of Rome in mind, not think of himself and his baser instincts. Sure, he says he sleeps with the wives and daughters of his enemies to find out their whereabouts and unearth intimate secrets, but is that really what he’s doing? Are there not better, more politically correct, ways of obtaining information? Do you want him testing out that method on your wives and daughters? Do you really want a dishonest, immoral, principle-lacking man who knows only to think of himself in charge of all of Rome? What do all of his extramarital affairs say about his character? It reveals a lack of integrity, a complete disregard for any morals, and high levels of self-centeredness. Some of his many illicit conquests include a twenty-year long liaison with Servilia Caepionis, mother of Brutus (which he started shortly after my untimely death), a rumored tryst with King Nicomedes of Bithynia, and worst of all, Cleopatra, who he had an affair (and a son) with while he was married to his dedicated third wife, Calpurnia. He has many lovers, both rich and poor, man and woman alike. He has let his personal life seep into his public life, and without a barrier separating the two, his judgement has been, and will continue to be, led by desires of the flesh instead of the ideals of reason,Īs many of you know, probably first-hand, my husband is a womanizer, man-izer, and whatever else-izer.
